Application

What projects/companies do you invest in?

We look at and invest in startups and founders across the Bitcoin ecosystem. Includes, but not limited to: the main L1 as well as Lightning, Stacks, Rootstock, Ordinals, DLCs, and more.

We also consider projects that may have started on other chains and now wish to build on Bitcoin in new and useful ways.

We do not invest in NFT or Ordinal art collections at this moment. We're looking to support the growth of the Bitcoin ecosystem by investing in teams building the tech to leverage it, think marketplaces, infrastructure, DeFi, bridges, etc.

When are applications due?

We will have two application timelines:

Early-Bird application
Deadline September 15th, 2023 (Noon Pacific Time)
Tentative Response by: October 16th.

Normal application

Tentative Response by: November 20th

The program

How and where do sessions take place?

All aspects of this program are delivered virtually via zoom, discord and through our program hub. Sessions are predominantly offered live with recordings and additional resources made available in the program hub thereafter.

What core topics are covered in the program?

We cover a range of fundraising, operations and business development topics—but are particularly focused on helping companies with co-founder relationships, mentors and advisors, fundraising and pitching.

We also have experts in residence to assist with Ordinals tech, marketing, and tokenomics or legal considerations.

What investment is made to accepted participants?

We offer $100k in investment and a badass program and community to take your startup to the next level, in exchange for 2-3% equity in common shares. This is significantly less than comparable programs which take 6-7% on average.

2% for teams that already have closed substantial funding towards a large fundraising goal, minimum of $600k closed in the 6 months prior to the start of the program.

3% for teams who haven't closed substantial funding yet.

We infrequently make small, $25k strategic investments outside of the program, in startups who have recently closed more than $1M in venture funding.

Our $100k investments consists of $70k cash and a $30k program fee. Accepted applicants will receive the initial $35k after being accepted into the program and the completion of the Due Diligence process. The remaining cash payment of $35k will be made upon completion of the program's milestones.

The program fee is less than comparable programs and covers operations of running the program, staff, coaches, EIRs, and a travel subsidy to attend The Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, TN in July 2024.

How do we meet potential investors in the program?

You'll be exposed to industry experts—many of whom are investors—throughout the program, as well during scheduled “Meet the Mentors” sessions. Additionally, you'll get a chance to get feedback on your pitch from Investors themselves through our Pitch Feedback sessions which we schedule in the latter half of the program.

Of course, you'll also get a chance to pitch to the Bitcoin Frontier Fund's network of investors at Demo Day at the end of the program!

How are we prepared for pitching investors?

The program is heavily focused on preparing builders to fundraise, with pitching being a big part of this. We make sure you're prepared and comfortable giving 1-minute and 5-minute pitches on your product, as well as answering a variety of expected investor questions. In addition to lecture teaching you how to get prepped—including how to optimize your deck, best practices for delivery, and more—you'll also get a personal pitch coach and weekly opportunities to practice your pitch so it's “pitch-perfect” for Demo Day and beyond.

How do we communicate with the group and group leaders?

Primary communications for the program will be shared in the Bitcoin Frontier Fund's private Discord server.

We have Group channels available to the Program teams only, and open channels with mentors, EIRs and ecosystem supporters.

Throughout the program, the BFF team will communicate with you and your team via a group DM in Discord.

If you need support or want to connect with another group member, we encourage you to use this tool to reach out!
